My name is Damon Burris, a 20 year veteran at San Francisco’s juvenile hall. My work with youthful offenders has helped many kids tap into their inner greatness to turn their lives around.
In addition, my own kids, ages 16 and 12, have always attended independent private schools. As a result, I have learned how independent schools and the affluent families they serve, educate and prepare their kids for success. I know their secret sauce for success — and it’s not strictly about money.
Believe it or not, juvenile hall kids are not much different from private school kids. They respond to the same strategies of coaching and parenting. I have successfully used the strategies taught here on Parenting to Greatness with kids in independent prep school and youthful offenders in juvenile hall.
The difference is, families who send their kids to independent schools use some, if not all, of the PTG strategies while other families are not aware that they can increase the probability for their child’s success. There are certain traits that must be instilled and developed in their a child by their parents. Parenting to Greatness will provide that road map.
Parenting to greatness will:
Share interviews and messages, provide training to parents on the best strategies to bring out the greatness in their child.
Train parents to prepare their children “to meet the challenges of their time.” – Sarah Dix Hamlin
Train parents to train their children “to be their best when their best is needed.” — John Wooden
Train parents “to be the greatest coach, mentor and confidant for their children.” — Damon Burris
Share and teach parents how to instill the Five Trait Pairs to Greatness in their children.
Share and teach actionable strategies to be used on a daily basis to implement and develop the Five Trait Pairs to Greatness for their children.
As parents we are the teachers, the managers, master schedulers, gatekeepers, treasurers, taxi drivers of our young children. We all know how to do those jobs. Parenting to Greatness will teach you, the parent of a young child, how to do such a great job of mentoring and motivating, when your children become teenagers and beyond, they will hire you back as a consultant.
